Why is it called P-shots or Priapus shots?
It was introduced by Dr. Charles Runels, an American born doctor, after he first injected it into his own penis and noticed his erections were noticeably harder and lasted longer. Thus, he gave its name Priapus, from the Greek god of male regenerative power – who represented what he was trying to achieve.
The P-Shot is based on PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy that was initially used in wound healing, muscle and joint injuries, but now has evolved to address aesthetic concerns and sexual dysfunction (Erectile Dysfunction and Peyronie’s Disease for men).
What is PRP?
PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma is one of the most advanced and effective natural treatments for cellular repair. Concentrated platelets, rich in bioactive proteins, release growth factors to stimulate cellular regeneration and accelerate tissue repair.
How Long Does the P-Shot Procedure Take to Perform?
The PRP injection is performed in the clinic setting. It should take about 60 minutes from start to finish but we do usually allow a little extra time. You may drive yourself home after the procedure.
How is P-shot done?
The Priapus Shot is a drug-free, surgery-free solution. It is a regenerative therapy by stimulating the healing process in your penis using growth factors in your blood.
This is how the treatment is done:
Step 1 : A numbing cream is applied and simple local anaesthetic is given to ease the whole process.
Step 2: We will draw a sample of your blood and store it into a special bottle container.Your blood then will be put in a centrifuge machine and spun for 15-20 minutes.
Step 3: This process will concentrate the healing components in your blood into platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
The PRP will then be extracted and prepared for the injections. Your PRP is carefully drawn into two syringes.
Step 4: PRP will then be administered using a tiny needle into different sites of your penis.
When Can I Resume Sexual Activity After the P-Shot Procedure?
You may resume sexual activity about 6 hours after procedure on the same day.
What are the other combination therapies that could supplement P-Shots?
In some cases, we would recommend the P-Shot in combination with other therapies, such as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) and oral medication like PDE5i such as Cialis or Levitra. These combinations will help build tissue strength, firmness, and tone in conjunction with the P-Shot.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE P-SHOT?
The growth factors & proteins released by the high concentration of platelets in PRP in turn activate stem cells and stimulate cellular repair and regeneration which promotes formation of new blood vessels and further aids in tissue repair.
As healthy tissue returns to the penis, you can experience several benefits, including:
- Enhanced sensitivity in the penis
- Better overall blood flow to the penis
- Increased sexual stamina
- Stronger and firmer erections
- Increased length and girth of your penis
- Fewer chances of premature ejaculation
- Easier to achieve and maintain erections (i.e., improved sexual stamina)
- new neural pathways being established (from new experiences and positive reinforcement)
- Resolution of penile pain with erections
What is the P-Shot used for?
The P-Shot has been used as an alternative treatment in cases including:
- Erectile dysfunction (ED)
- Penile or general sexual function, orgasm and performance enhancement
- Lichen sclerosus
- Peyronie’s disease, a condition in which scar tissue makes the penis curve when its erect. P-Shot provides a 75-80% success rate in straightening penile tissue, while also improving its circulation, health, and strength.
- Urinary incontinence and prostate discomfort.
What Are the Potential Side Effects of the P-Shot?
Since PRP is extracted from your own blood, there are few and only minor potential side effects. These include pain, minor bleeding or bruising, swelling, and very rarely infection.
